About the role

Evans GP is creating an early-career opportunity for a Junior Formula 4 Performance & Data Engineer at its Sepang base. The role is designed for an engineer with strong fundamentals and genuine practical motorsport experience who is ready to develop in a professional Formula 4 environment.

Working with the senior engineering group, you will help prepare and operate the team's data systems, maintain accurate technical records and turn sessions into useful information for engineers, mechanics and drivers. The position includes workshop, test and race-event responsibilities and requires careful preparation before the cars run.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare data systems, sensors, logging configurations and engineering files before events.
  • Download, organise and quality-check telemetry after every run.
  • Produce repeatable reports covering lap performance, driver inputs, tyres and car health.
  • Maintain setup sheets, run plans, fuel calculations and event documentation.
  • Support onboard-video review and driver comparison work.
  • Assist race engineers during debriefs and complete agreed analysis tasks between sessions.
  • Work with mechanics to investigate data-quality issues and confirm sensor operation.
  • Contribute to post-event reports and development work at the Sepang facility.

The right candidate will be curious, precise and comfortable asking good questions. This is a development role with real responsibility, not an office-only graduate position.

Requirements

  • Must have: an engineering degree, diploma or equivalent technical training, completed or close to completion.
  • Must have: a sound grounding in vehicle dynamics, data analysis and basic race-car systems.
  • Must have: practical motorsport experience through Formula Student, karting, club racing, internships or a race team.
  • Must have: strong spreadsheet and analytical skills, careful file management and excellent attention to detail.
  • Must have: professional English communication and availability for international travel and irregular event hours.
  • Preferred: experience with MoTeC i2, MATLAB, Python or comparable motorsport data tools.
  • Preferred: familiarity with Formula 4, junior single-seaters, tyre analysis or driver coaching workflows.

Benefits and working environment

You will work alongside experienced Formula 4 engineers and mechanics, with structured exposure to workshop preparation, testing, race events and driver development. Evans GP provides a professional technical environment at Sepang International Circuit and a clear opportunity to grow through practical responsibility. The package will reflect qualifications and experience.
