No 2 Technician (Defender Rally Team)
Prepare and maintain Defender World Rally Raid Championship cars, spares and equipment in the workshop and during international events.
Must have
- Previous rally experience
- Strong ability to read, understand and apply a complete competition-car build specification
- Ability to follow build and operational procedures accurately
- Clear communication with technicians, engineers and other team members
Preferred
- Rally or WRC programme experience
- Professional race-team workshop and trackside experience
- Relevant automotive or motorsport technical qualification
About the role
Prodrive is adding No 2 Technicians to its Defender Rally Team for the World Rally Raid Championship. Working under the direction of the No 1 Technician and Chief Technician, the successful candidate will help ensure the competition car, spare parts and event equipment are prepared on time and to the required specification.
This is a close-team operational role in which trust, stamina and a strong work ethic are essential. International event travel is a core requirement and an individual trip can last for as long as three weeks.
- Complete work directed by the No 1 Technician or Chief Technician.
- Keep the No 1 Technician informed about extra work identified during a car build or repair.
- Perform workshop and on-event maintenance when required.
- Confirm that the car remains at the correct build and operating specification.
- Undertake additional duties requested by team management as event and workshop demands change.
Requirements
- Previous rally experience.
- Strong ability to read, understand and apply a complete competition-car build specification.
- Ability to follow build and operational procedures accurately.
- Clear communication with technicians, engineers and other team members.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Consistent attention to detail and a flexible approach to duties.
- Willingness to work overtime when required by the programme.
- Stamina and availability for extensive worldwide travel, including trips of up to three weeks per event.
