Systems and Controls Engineer
Own and develop Prodrive motorsport electronic systems, control strategies, embedded software and vehicle commissioning across rally and race programmes.
Must have
- Practical capability in IT support and development, including Windows, networking, Microsoft Office and Excel/VBA
- Programming experience with MATLAB, Simulink, Python and C
- System-level understanding of wiring looms and the ability to diagnose existing looms
- Strong knowledge of CAN, LIN and Ethernet communications, including bus and network fault-finding
Preferred
- Familiarity with the Bosch Motorsport toolchain, including WinDarab and RaceCon, is preferred
- Bosch Motorsport experience is advantageous
About the role
Prodrive is recruiting a Systems and Controls Engineer, with the appointment potentially made at Senior Engineer level depending on experience. The Banbury-based position supports reliability and performance across Prodrive Motorsport programmes, with a particular focus on Rally Raid and the development of new data and software systems.
The engineer will work across factory testing, remote support and live events. The remit spans electronic architecture, vehicle data, embedded control software and collaboration with the electrical, software and customer-support groups.
- Manage electronic-system specifications and software updates for Prodrive Motorsport products.
- Analyse data and commission rally and race cars at events, remotely and during factory testing.
- Develop and optimise control strategies for vehicle performance, drivability, efficiency and reliability.
- Support factory and customer teams with electrical and electronic requirements.
- Work with championship organisers to keep products compliant with technical regulations.
- Develop and maintain embedded control software and model-based control algorithms.
- Implement control solutions covering powertrain, torque management, driveline, thermal management, vehicle dynamics, electrical power management and driver interfaces.
- Support software integration, release management and configuration control.
Requirements

- Experience with motorsport or automotive control units, data loggers and associated software; Bosch Motorsport experience is advantageous.
- Working knowledge of vehicle systems such as engine, transmission, HVAC and electrical distribution.
- Clear written and spoken communication, strong organisation and the ability to prioritise and coordinate work.
- Ability to operate independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
