Audi Revolut F1 Team has appointed Thomas Fuhr as chief executive of Audi Formula Racing GmbH, the Neuburg company responsible for developing and manufacturing its Formula 1 power unit. He will take up the role on 1 November 2026.
Audi says the appointment is intended to strengthen the management structure at Neuburg. Fuhr will lead the organisation and its further development, while Stefan Dreyer remains chief technology officer and will concentrate on technical development of the power unit. Christian Foyer continues to oversee operations at the site.
Fuhr joins after more than three decades in engineering and management. He was managing director of Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains from 2009 to 2012, later held senior roles at Grohe and LIXIL and most recently served as chief technology officer of Georg Fischer Building Flow Solutions. Audi has not disclosed the terms of his appointment, reporting line, remuneration or whether the CEO position is newly created.
The distinction between organisational and technical responsibility is material for Audi’s Formula 1 programme. Audi Formula Racing designs and builds the power unit in Germany, while the wider race team operates across Hinwil, Neuburg and Bicester. The official release describes Fuhr’s remit as organisational leadership rather than replacing Dreyer as the senior technical authority.
Audi has not announced a revised technical timetable, budget, supplier programme or staffing target alongside the appointment. MRI has therefore reported the verified leadership change without inferring that it alters the homologation plan or the competitive specification of the power unit.
The article is linked to Audi Revolut F1 Team’s exact MRI profile because that listing covers the programme and its Neuburg power-unit operation. The profile does not hold an approved official logo, and no reusable first-party feature-image permission was established, so the article is published without an image.
