Amaury Sport Organisation and Saudi Motorsport Company have jointly decided that the 2027 Dakar will not take place in Saudi Arabia.

The rally had been scheduled for 1 to 15 January 2027. The organisers said the change followed recent developments in the region and was an exceptional, one-off decision made with the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation and the support of the FIA and FIM.

A.S.O. says the 2027 event will still go ahead in a different territory under its organisation. The replacement location had not been announced when the official statement was published; A.S.O. said that detail would follow separately in the coming days.

The relocation creates a compressed delivery programme for competitors, teams and suppliers that had been planning for Saudi Arabia. Route reconnaissance, freight, customs, accommodation, testing and support contracts may all require revision, but the announcement does not identify which arrangements will change or how costs will be allocated. MRI has not inferred financial exposure without those contracts.

Saudi Arabia is due to host the Dakar again in 2028 for the rally's 50th running. The statement describes the cooperation among A.S.O., Saudi Motorsport Company and the national federation as continuing, rather than presenting the 2027 move as an end to their long-term relationship.

MRI checked the source URL, headline, organisers, dates and event against the existing archive before publication. The site does not currently have an exact A.S.O. or Dakar organiser business profile, so no approximate profile or logo has been attached. No reusable first-party feature-image permission was established and the article is published without an image.
