Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team will divide its 2027 FIA World Rally Championship factory programme between two teams and two Rally1 models while keeping both operations under the same Jyväskylä-based organisation.

Toyota announced the structure on 3 November. TOYOTA RACING will introduce the GR Celica Rally1 for Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin, Oliver Solberg and Elliott Edmondson, and Sami Pajari and Marko Salminen. GAZOO Racing TOYOTA will use the 2027 GR Yaris Rally1 for Ott Tänak and Martin Järveoja, Takamoto Katsuta and Aaron Johnston, and Kalle Rovanperä and Jonne Halttunen.

Rovanperä is scheduled for a partial season of selected events, leaving scope for other drivers during the year. Toyota identified Sébastien Ogier and members of its development programme as possible participants but did not confirm individual appearances, so MRI has not presented them as contracted entries.

The manufacturer says it is preparing to field up to six factory cars on each rally and intends the two teams to compete as equal challengers. Both will remain under the TGR-WRT high-performance development company and operate from the same headquarters, rather than becoming independently owned customer teams.

The GR Celica Rally1 and GR Yaris Rally1 are being developed to the same 2027 WRC regulations with equal power and performance targets. Toyota had completed six days of rally-simulation testing by the announcement date, while homologation remained scheduled for completion before the end of 2026. Final liveries and further car details were still pending.

The two-team structure materially expands Toyota’s operating programme and creates parallel development, engineering, logistics and competition responsibilities. The official release does not disclose budgets, separate team principals, entry classifications, championship-nomination arrangements, staffing additions or the division of technical resources between the two squads.

The announcement also followed the 2 November groundbreaking for a new technical centre near Majajärvi. Toyota did not publish the construction budget or completion date in this release, so the facility is noted only as context for the wider expansion.

MRI compared the Toyota and WRC source URLs, canonical forms, headlines, team and car names, six confirmed crews and the 3 November event date against existing MRI news. The item was late-indexed but remained inside the seven-day acceptance window, and no duplicate or near-duplicate MRI article was found.

The article is connected to Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team’s exact MRI profile and approved logo. No first-party feature image was reused because publication permission was not established.
