ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team has retained Miguel Oliveira for the 2027 FIM Superbike World Championship season and beyond.
BMW describes the agreement as a long-term continuation of its factory relationship with the Portuguese rider. It has not disclosed the contract’s precise duration or financial terms.
Continuity after a disrupted first season
Oliveira moved to WorldSBK with BMW in 2026 following seven seasons in MotoGP. According to BMW, he has secured four podium finishes during his first campaign with the M 1000 RR.
His season also included two missed events after a shoulder injury sustained at Balaton Park. BMW says the rider and team have since worked on his recovery and return to competition.
Retaining Oliveira gives the programme continuity in rider feedback and working relationships as BMW plans its 2027 campaign. The announcement does not confirm the complete rider line-up, a development schedule for the motorcycle or a championship target.
A factory-rider decision
BMW Motorrad Motorsport head Sven Blusch said Oliveira adapted quickly after moving from MotoGP and had become an important part of the operation. Oliveira framed the renewal as a continuation of the trust developed during his first WorldSBK season.
Those comments are the parties’ assessments. Competitive value will depend on Oliveira’s recovery, the development of the M 1000 RR and the performance of the wider team.
The decision nonetheless removes one major variable from BMW’s planning by keeping an experienced grand prix winner within its factory WorldSBK programme beyond his initial season.
