Motorsport Australia has established a philanthropic foundation to fund skills development, community participation and programmes supporting the country’s motorsport workforce.

The Motorsport Australia Foundation was announced on 10 October 2026 at the Bathurst 1000. Its inaugural campaign targets $500,000 for volunteer-official development and is being run in partnership with the Australian Sports Foundation.

First campaign focuses on the volunteer workforce

Motorsport Australia says more than 12,500 volunteer officials support events across the country. The first fundraising programme is intended to finance expanded in-person training, digital education, mentoring and coaching, the Appointed Officials Development Program, regional travel assistance, wellbeing initiatives and recruitment pathways.

Supercars, the Australian Grand Prix Corporation and SRO Motorsports Australia were named as initial contributors. The announcement does not disclose the value of their individual donations or how much of the $500,000 target had been committed at launch.

The Foundation creates a separate route for companies, government and individuals to contribute to programmes that sit behind event delivery. It does not replace Motorsport Australia’s regulatory, licensing or sanctioning responsibilities, and the release does not describe changes to membership fees, event permits or insurance arrangements.

Governance and allocation detail will determine impact

The partnership with the Australian Sports Foundation provides a tax-deductible donation mechanism. Motorsport Australia has not published a grant timetable, annual operating budget, administrative-cost ratio or detailed process for selecting recipients.

Those missing details do not diminish the launch, but they limit any claim about how quickly funds will reach clubs or officials. MRI will treat future fundraising totals and programme outcomes as company- or foundation-reported unless independently documented.

The verified development is the creation of a new philanthropic arm and a defined first campaign for workforce development. No feature image has been used because reusable first-party permission was not established. The article is connected to Motorsport Australia’s exact MRI profile; its existing approved profile asset has been retained without alteration.
