SRO Motorsports Group has selected Team Motopark to run a Mercedes-AMG GT3 for four SRO GT Academy graduates at the 2027 24 Hours of Spa.
The fully funded prize entry will bring together one eligible driver from each of GT World Challenge America, Asia and Australia, plus British GT. SRO says the car is provisionally expected to compete in either the Gold Cup or Silver Cup, with the final class and driver line-up to be determined after the continental competitions conclude.
Operational contract for a developing GT team
The appointment gives Team Motopark responsibility for preparing and operating the car, supporting the selected drivers and delivering the entry at one of the largest GT races on the calendar. The Oschersleben-based team is better known for single-seater development but has expanded its GT activity in recent seasons.
Team Motopark has been a Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing Team since 2023, won the 2025 International GT Open title and made its first 24 Hours of Spa appearance in 2026. SRO cited the team's history of developing young drivers as a reason for the selection.
Mercedes-AMG Motorsport supports the project as the vehicle marque and customer-racing partner. The car will therefore combine SRO's competition-based academy selection, Team Motopark's race operation and Mercedes-AMG GT3 machinery in one funded programme.
Four regional contests feed one entry
Eligible Silver-graded drivers under 30 are assessed on criteria including speed and consistency rather than championship position alone. The structure allows the academy to compare candidates across four regional series before assembling a single international crew for Spa.
For SRO, the format turns participation in its continental championships into a visible progression route. For Team Motopark, it creates a defined 2027 programme and adds an international driver-development assignment to its GT portfolio. The parties have not disclosed the operating budget, funding split, commercial rights, test schedule or the length of the team appointment beyond this prize entry.
The current announcement confirms the team, manufacturer and target event. It does not yet confirm the four drivers, race class, car number, supporting partners or reserve arrangements. Those details depend on the remaining academy selection process and future sporting approvals.
