Haas Factory Team has retained Cole Custer to drive its No. 41 Chevrolet in the 2027 NASCAR Cup Series.

The team announced the decision on 9 October 2026. It will be Custer's third consecutive season with the single-car Cup programme and confirms one of the remaining positions in NASCAR's 2027 driver market.

Continuity follows the team's manufacturer change

Haas Factory Team was formed from the former Stewart-Haas Racing organisation before the 2025 season, with Custer continuing in the No. 41 entry. The operation changed from Ford to Chevrolet for 2026 and established a technical alliance with Hendrick Motorsports that includes Hendrick-built engines.

The latest announcement identifies the 2027 car as a Chevrolet, preserving driver and manufacturer continuity for the Cup programme. It does not state whether the Hendrick technical agreement has changed, so MRI has not inferred any new engineering, engine-supply or data-sharing terms from Custer's renewal.

Team owner Gene Haas described Custer as a championship-calibre driver whose consistency the organisation wanted to retain. MRI has paraphrased the company statement rather than reproducing its quotation.

Contract detail remains limited

Custer won the 2023 championship in NASCAR's second-tier series and has 15 victories at that level. He also won a Cup race at Kentucky in 2020. Haas Factory Team's release says he had one top-10 finish in the 2026 Cup season at the time of the announcement and was 32nd in the standings with five races remaining.

Those results provide sporting context for the renewal but do not establish a performance target for 2027. The team has not disclosed the contract length beyond the confirmed season, financial terms, performance clauses or whether further years are covered by options.

The announcement also does not identify Custer's 2027 crew chief, primary sponsorship schedule or any personnel and facility changes. It does not address the team's separate two-car O'Reilly Auto Parts Series programme.

The verified development is therefore narrow but material: Haas Factory Team has filled its Cup seat for 2027, keeping Custer in the No. 41 Chevrolet as the organisation enters the second season of its manufacturer relationship.

No feature image has been used because reusable first-party permission was not established. The article is connected to Haas Factory Team's exact MRI profile. That profile currently has no approved logo asset, so no logo has been invented.
