McLaren Racing has promoted Grégoire Saucy to a full-time seat in its 2027 FIA World Endurance Championship Hypercar programme.
The 26-year-old Swiss driver moves from McLaren’s Driver Development Programme into the race line-up after contributing to development of the MCL-HY. McLaren says Saucy attended all but one of the car’s development tests, drove during its initial rollout at Varano and took part in its public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Saucy also won the 2026 European Le Mans Series LMP2 title with United Autosports, taking two victories and five podium finishes across six rounds. He previously raced McLaren GT3 machinery in WEC during 2024 and 2025 before joining the manufacturer’s development system.
The appointment fills the fifth of six planned race seats. McLaren’s confirmed Hypercar roster now includes Mikkel Jensen, Laurens Vanthoor, Alex Lynn, Leonardo Fornaroli and Saucy, with one driver still to be announced. The official release does not assign car numbers or crew combinations and does not disclose contract length, salary, options or reserve arrangements.
McLaren described the move as the intended progression route for its development programme. That assessment and the team’s comments on Saucy’s pace and adaptability are company claims; MRI has reported the appointment and published record without presenting those judgements as independently measured facts.
MRI compared the source and canonical URLs, announcement title, Saucy, the MCL-HY, the five named drivers and the 4 November date against existing coverage. Earlier MRI reports on other McLaren Hypercar drivers and commercial partners are separate developments.
