Edinburg Motorsports Park has joined the National Hot Rod Association’s Member Track Network in the South Central Division, giving the South Texas facility a formal route into NHRA competition and support programmes.
The announcement follows the venue’s inaugural NHRA event and arrives during its tenth-anniversary year. NHRA said the event attracted strong support from competitors and spectators and included presentation of its 75th Anniversary Diamond Wally trophies.
What membership changes
Membership makes the circuit eligible to run a range of NHRA-sanctioned activities, including the Summit Racing Equipment E.T. Series, the Jr. Drag Racing League, Street Legal and Jr. Street programmes. It may also host specialist events such as King of the Track.
The commercial and operational value goes beyond the calendar. NHRA member tracks can access sanctioning support, insurance benefits and national marketing platforms. For a regional venue, those systems can help create a clearer competition ladder, improve event consistency and connect local racers with programmes recognised across the United States.
The track is owned by chief executive Albert Rodriguez. In the official announcement, Rodriguez described the agreement as a new chapter for the facility and said the aim was to give racers and fans in the Rio Grande Valley a larger stage.
A regional growth decision
NHRA Division 4 covers a large southern territory, so the location of member facilities matters. Edinburg gives the organisation another base close to the US-Mexico border and creates a more direct sanctioned pathway for competitors in South Texas.
NHRA Division 4 director Jonathan Johnson said the region has a strong racing community and that the new member track will connect local competitors with the Summit Racing Series, Jr. Drag Racing League and other programmes.
The agreement is also a useful example of how independent circuits can use affiliation to strengthen their operating proposition. A recognised sanctioning relationship can support competitor confidence, event promotion, insurance arrangements and the development of repeatable race formats. The benefit will depend on how consistently the venue converts those rights and programmes into a sustainable calendar.
No financial terms or fixed membership duration were disclosed. MRI will track the events and programmes that result from the affiliation as the circuit moves into its next operating phase.
