Envision Racing has named Maximilian Günther and Zak O’Sullivan as its Formula E drivers for the first season of the GEN4 regulations.
Formula E announced Günther’s move on 14 September 2026 and O’Sullivan’s promotion the following day. The appointments complete a new driver line-up for the newly titled Paysafe Envision Formula E Team.
Günther joins on a multi-year contract
Günther moves from DS Penske after eight Formula E seasons and seven E-Prix victories. Envision has described his agreement as multi-year but has not disclosed its exact length, financial terms or performance clauses.
His 2025/26 campaign produced 23 points, 18th in the drivers’ standings and a best finish of sixth. The move gives Envision an established race winner for a season in which teams must learn the new GEN4 car and sporting format.
Envision will continue with a Jaguar technical package. No separate powertrain term, test allocation or commercial value was published with the driver announcements.
O’Sullivan steps up from development role
O’Sullivan becomes a full-time Formula E driver after a season working with Envision in the simulator and at rookie tests. The team says the contract covers Season 13 and beyond, although it did not publish the precise duration.
The British driver first ran for Envision in the rookie practice session before the Season 11 Jeddah E-Prix and drove the GEN3 Evo three more times during the following season. His previous record includes the 2021 GB3 title, second place in the 2023 FIA Formula 3 championship and Formula 2 victories at Monaco and Spa in 2024.
The promotion gives Envision continuity from its development programme while Günther supplies current Formula E race experience. It also completes the team’s driver decisions before pre-season testing, which Envision says is scheduled for November.
The two appointments are the substantive business update: a fully replaced driver pairing, one multi-year senior signing and one internal promotion for the start of Formula E’s GEN4 cycle. Neither announcement included reserve-driver plans, salary figures or broader staffing changes.
