Lone Star Racing will contest the full 2027 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GTD season, expanding beyond the Michelin Endurance Cup programme it has run during the past three years.
The team will retain its No. 80 Mercedes-AMG GT3 and pair Lin Hodenius with James Roe for the complete calendar. IMSA announced the programme on 3 November. Lone Star has made 29 WeatherTech Championship starts since entering the series and has previously combined sprint appearances with more recent endurance-only campaigns.
The move changes the scale of the operation because a full season adds sprint rounds to the five endurance events that formed its 2026 schedule. It requires the team to maintain personnel, freight, spares and race preparation across every championship weekend rather than concentrating resources on the Endurance Cup.
IMSA said Lone Star finished inside the top ten in all five 2026 endurance races, including fourth places at Sebring and Road Atlanta. The official report linked that progress to the decision to expand, but it did not disclose the programme budget, staffing increase, commercial term with Mercedes-AMG or a complete list of partner commitments.
Hodenius is part of Mercedes-AMG’s junior programme and competed with Lone Star during 2026. Roe also raced for the team in GTD after earlier LMP2 appearances. Their retention gives the expanded entry driver continuity, but the announcement does not name an endurance-event third driver or guarantee a factory status beyond the Mercedes-AMG platform described by IMSA.
