Spire Motorsports has signed Kasey Kahne for a full-time return to NASCAR competition in the 2027 FedEx Freight Truck Series.

The team announced the programme on 7 October 2026. Kahne will drive Spire's No. 77 Chevrolet Silverado RST, beginning with the season opener at Daytona International Speedway on 19 February 2027.

Full-season programme follows a limited NASCAR return

Kahne last contested a full NASCAR season in 2018. He returned for a single O'Reilly Auto Parts Series race at Rockingham in 2025 after focusing on open-wheel dirt racing and his own Kasey Kahne Racing operation.

Spire says the 2027 agreement is a championship campaign rather than a one-off appearance. Kahne has made six previous Truck Series starts and won five of them, but those historical results do not establish a performance expectation for the new programme.

The announcement confirms the driver, vehicle number, manufacturer and opening event. It does not identify a crew chief, full partner roster, technical personnel changes or contract terms beyond the 2027 season.

Programme adds an experienced name to Spire's Truck operation

The No. 77 entry sits within a Spire organisation that operates in the Cup Series, Truck Series and High Limit Racing. The Kahne deal is distinct from the team's same-week confirmation that Daniel Suárez will remain in its No. 7 Cup car.

For Spire, the signing creates a separate commercial and sporting platform around a driver with established NASCAR recognition. The value and activation plans of any sponsorship attached to the programme have not been disclosed, so MRI has not inferred a budget or partner package.

This late-indexed item remained within the seven-day review window and was missing from MRI. The article is connected to Spire Motorsports' exact profile and existing approved logo. No feature image has been used because reusable first-party permission was not established.
