Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

Hyundai Motorsport is recruiting a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with responsibility for competition-vehicle components including suspension, steering, brakes and subframes. The role covers detailed CAD definition, manufacturing drawings and assembly installations using CATIA V5.

The engineer will own components across their full lifecycle, from initial concept and detailed design through manufacture, testing, validation, reliability improvement and performance development. The position also supports vehicle builds, test-car activity and technical problem-solving with internal teams and external suppliers.

• Create detailed 3D component and assembly CAD models.
• Produce associated 2D manufacturing and assembly drawings.
• Own mechanical components from concept through test, validation, reliability and performance development.
• Support validation tests and design any necessary test jigs or rigs.
• Assist vehicle and test-car builds and resolve related technical issues.
• Work with suppliers to support manufacturing quality and design optimisation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Automotive or Aeronautical Engineering, or a comparable technical background.
• At least seven years of professional motorsport experience across rally and track-racing disciplines.
• Strong mechanical-design experience and sound knowledge of materials science and core mechanical-engineering principles.
• Strong CAD capability, preferably CATIA V5.
• Experience producing and interpreting 2D and 3D GD&T technical drawings.
• Surface-design knowledge is advantageous.
• Familiarity with a PLM system, preferably Windchill.
• Fluent English.
