Must have

About the role

Hyundai Motor Group Racing is seeking a Senior Simulator Engineer for its driver-in-the-loop simulation environment in Signes, France. The simulator supports vehicle development, performance optimisation, driver assessment and correlation work across several racing programmes.

The role combines technical leadership with daily operation and continuous improvement of simulation hardware, software, models and engineering workflows. It also includes session delivery, correlation against track and test data, troubleshooting and support for junior engineers.

  • Lead operation and development of simulation systems including AVL VSM Race.
  • Optimise Dynisma driving-simulator performance and reliability.
  • Develop vehicle-dynamics models and simulation workflows in MATLAB and Simulink.
  • Configure and maintain PTWinSim, RaceCon and SimHub environments.
  • Lead correlation between virtual results and track or test data.
  • Support race-engineering and vehicle-dynamics groups through simulator preparation and analysis.
  • Develop and validate methodologies, tools and performance indicators.
  • Oversee session preparation, execution and post-session reporting.
  • Diagnose complex simulator, software and integration faults.
  • Collaborate with software, controls and systems engineers to improve fidelity and real-time performance.
  • Contribute to future simulator technology and workflow development.
  • Mentor junior simulator engineers and interns and maintain documentation standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical, Automotive or Motorsport Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least five years of significant experience in vehicle simulation, motorsport engineering or a driver-in-the-loop environment.
  • Advanced experience with AVL VSM Race, MATLAB/Simulink, PTWinSim, RaceCon and SimHub.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle dynamics, tyre modelling, real-time simulation and driver-in-the-loop technology.
  • Experience developing or operating Dynisma or a comparable simulator platform.
  • Familiarity with graphical simulation environments such as rFpro.
  • Strong data-analysis and correlation skills plus MATLAB, Python or similar programming capability.
  • Excellent diagnostic judgement and problem-solving under pressure.
  • Motorsport or high-performance development, race-weekend or test support, HIL/SIL/DIL integration, controls and calibration, technical-project leadership, network and real-time computing experience are preferred.
  • Ability to set technical direction, develop junior engineers, communicate across functions, own projects and prioritise concurrent programmes.
  • Fluent English, which is the daily working language.
