Action Express Racing will move Frederik Vesti into a full-season seat alongside Jack Aitken in its No. 31 Cadillac V-Series.R for the 2027 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

IMSA confirmed the change on 15 October 2026 as part of Cadillac Racing's three-car GTP programme. Vesti has served as the No. 31 car's endurance driver for the past two seasons and made selected sprint starts in 2026.

Vesti and Aitken form the full-season pairing

Vesti replaces Earl Bamber in the full-season line-up. Bamber remains with the Cadillac Whelen programme for the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup, while the team will name a fourth driver for the Rolex 24 at Daytona separately.

The arrangement keeps the three drivers who shared the No. 31 programme in 2026 but changes their allocation. Vesti will contest all nine championship rounds with Aitken, and Bamber will concentrate on the endurance races.

Action Express general manager Gary Nelson said the team viewed Vesti's move as the only change to its 2027 driver structure. The announcement did not disclose contract lengths, financial terms or whether Vesti's agreement extends beyond the 2027 season.

Cadillac retains three GTP entries across two teams

Cadillac will again run three V-Series.R prototypes in IMSA: the No. 31 Action Express entry and the Nos. 10 and 40 cars operated by Wayne Taylor Racing.

Wayne Taylor Racing will retain its full-season pairings. Ricky Taylor and Filipe Albuquerque continue in the No. 10 car, while Jordan Taylor and Louis Delétraz remain in the No. 40. Will Stevens and Norman Nato will take the respective third seats for the three longest Michelin Endurance Cup events.

The programme therefore combines one full-season driver change at Action Express with continuity across Wayne Taylor Racing. Cadillac described the structure as a platform for defending its 2026 titles, but MRI has not treated that stated objective or the manufacturer's historical results as a forecast.

The verified development is the 2027 entry and driver plan. The fourth Rolex 24 driver for the No. 31 remains unannounced, and the release does not state budgets, sponsor terms or technical changes to the V-Series.R.
