Ford Racing will continue with a two-car factory GTD Pro programme in the 2027 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, retaining both Mustang GT3 entries and all four full-season drivers.
Dennis Olsen and Ben Barker will share the No. 64 car for a second season. Frederic Vervisch and Christopher Mies will continue together in the No. 65 for a third consecutive campaign.
Programme continuity for 2027
The decision preserves the current operating structure after changes to the team name, driver line-up and car specification before the 2026 season. Ford describes the 2027 plan as continuity rather than a new expansion: the same two cars, pairings and GTD Pro class commitment will return.
The programme is delivered with Multimatic, which is involved in the Mustang GT3's engineering and race operation. Ford has not disclosed changes to staffing, facilities, budgets or the commercial terms of that relationship for 2027.
Both entries won during the 2026 season before the announcement. Vervisch and Mies took a victory at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, while Olsen and Barker won at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Those results accompanied Ford's position as a manufacturer-title contender going into the season finale, but the 2027 commitment is not dependent on a final championship outcome.
Mustang GT3 specification carries forward
Ford introduced an evolution package for the Mustang GT3 in 2026, targeting aerodynamics, suspension kinematics and braking. The 25 September announcement did not identify another package or newly homologated product for 2027. It said the current car and driver structure would carry forward while development continues.
That distinction matters for teams and suppliers. The confirmed business update is a renewed two-car factory programme, not a new model launch or a disclosed customer-car order. Ford has not published the contract lengths for the four drivers, the operating budget, sponsor arrangements, endurance additions or the allocation of engineering work between Ford Racing and Multimatic.
Retaining the line-up reduces several transition costs. Drivers and engineers can continue with established data, setup language and working relationships rather than rebuilding those processes around new pairings. For the programme's technical partners, it also provides a defined two-car demand base for preparation, spares and trackside support through another IMSA season.
The 2027 calendar and any additional endurance drivers will determine the complete sporting plan. Ford's announcement confirms the core GTD Pro operation and four full-season seats; it does not specify other series, customer programmes or a broader increase in Mustang GT3 production.
