McLaren Racing has extended its partnership with Airwallex and will designate the financial-technology company as the Formula 1 team’s Official AI Finance Partner from January 2027.
The relationship began in 2024 as a technology partnership. Airwallex says it supports McLaren’s global financial operations and supplies payment technology for the team’s digital partner merchandise platform, allowing customers to pay through multiple global and local methods.
Under the extension, the companies say they will look to build faster and more efficient finance technology on and off the track. The release does not identify a deployment date for new AI functions, the specific processes they will automate or the financial systems and jurisdictions included in the expanded work.
Airwallex links the new designation to products it is developing, including its T:0 AI-native finance platform and Airi agentic consumer wallet. Those products are part of the supplier’s wider roadmap; the announcement does not confirm that McLaren will deploy every named product or feature.
The rights package also expands. Airwallex branding will appear on the sleeve of the McLaren Formula 1 team kit and remain on both cars at the rear-left halo position and on the drivers’ overalls. The companies describe the extension as multi-year but do not disclose its exact duration, value, implementation cost or performance targets.
The update is more than a new sponsor label because it continues an operating payment relationship. It is nevertheless a company announcement and does not provide independently audited measures of efficiency, cost reduction or revenue attributed to the platform.
The article is linked to McLaren Racing’s exact MRI profile and will use any approved logo held there. No reusable first-party feature-image permission was established, so the article is published without an image.
